Today’s Edition

Time will continue regardless of what you think of yourself, so you might as well choose to think of yourself in a positive light.
If this is difficult for you, that is ok.
Start right now by giving yourself one compliment
Finish this sentence: “I am really good at…”
Self-kindness is something we can all get better at
Keep going, you’ve got this!

There Are Versions of You That Haven’t Met You Yet

It’s easy to believe that who you are right now is who you’ll always be. Especially when you’re struggling.

Sometimes we need the reminder that we are constantly changing to help us step back into hope and see possibility ahead. Through healing, relationships, experiences, grief, learning, courage, rest, reflection, and time, we evolve again and again throughout our lives.

There are future versions of you that haven’t existed yet. Versions who know things you don’t know yet. Versions who feel safer, freer, more confident, more connected, more alive. Versions who may handle situations differently than you do today.

Growth often happens slowly and quietly, which means we don’t always notice it while it’s happening.

And importantly, becoming someone new doesn’t mean rejecting who you are now. The current version of you deserves care too. They are not “behind.” They are simply in process.

Ways to support your growth with compassion:

🌱 Stop assuming today’s struggles are permanent
🧠 Notice small changes instead of only dramatic transformation
💛 Allow yourself to evolve without shaming past versions of yourself
🫶 Stay open to possibility: growth can happen in unexpected ways
•⏳ Remember that healing and becoming take time

You are not finished becoming yourself. There is still more life, growth, connection, and discovery ahead of you than you can currently see.

Action step: Spend a moment imagining a future version of yourself who feels more grounded, connected, or free. What might they want you to know today?

Do Ultra-Processed Foods Increase Death Risk?

A clinical consensus statement published in the European Heart Journal by the European Society of Cardiology has pulled together all currently available research on ultra-processed foods (UPFs) and cardiovascular health, and it is worth noting the findings.

Adults who consume the most ultra-processed food face up to a 19% greater risk of heart disease, a 13% higher risk of atrial fibrillation, and as much as a 65% higher risk of death from cardiovascular disease compared to those who consume the least.

They also outline that UPFs are also linked to worsening obesity, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and unhealthy fat accumulation in the blood.

The researchers point to several reasons why this is the case:

  • They tend to be high in sugar, salt, unhealthy fats and calories

  • The additives, altered food structure, and processing compounds appear to drive inflammation, disrupt metabolism, and change the gut microbiome in ways that go beyond just poor nutrition.

It is worth noting that most of the studies to date on UPFs are observational, so this is an association, not a proven cause and effect. But the consistency of the findings across large, varied populations is what has the European Society of Cardiology calling on doctors to start discussing UPF intake with patients as a routine part of cardiovascular care.

Action Step: Take a look at what you are eating most days and identify one ultra-processed food you could swap for a whole or minimally processed version.
