Monday Healing Moment: Remembering the Wonder of Being Alive

Happy Monday 💛 Before this week fills with responsibilities, let's take a moment to reconnect with the extraordinary experience of being alive.

Take a slow breath in. And a gentle breath out. Notice that breath. The beautiful, quiet miracle of your body sustaining you in this very moment.

Feel your heartbeat, if it's comfortable. Notice the warmth of your skin. The sounds surrounding you.

You are here. A living, breathing part of an extraordinary world.

Now imagine widening your attention beyond this moment.

The trees growing quietly outside. The oceans moving with the moon. The billions of stars scattered across the universe. The countless lives unfolding alongside yours.

And somehow, within all this vastness, here you are.

Able to feel love. To laugh until your belly hurts. To learn something new. To be moved by music. To witness beauty.

There is so much wonder woven into the ordinary experience of being human.

Not every moment will feel magical. Life can be difficult, messy, and uncertain.

But even amidst it all, there is extraordinary beauty worth noticing.

As this week begins, let yourself look at life with a little more awe.

Take one more slow breath, appreciating the aliveness within you.

You are not just moving through life. You are part of its wonder.

Love, Lola Graham

Just 4 Minutes!

Maintaining your strength is important at any age, but especially as you start to get into a past retirement age, to prevent falls and muscle loss. Many people struggle to strength train because they think they need to spend hours every week in the gym, but a new study shows even a tiny bit of time a day can be meaningful.

In a 12-week study of adults 65 and older, participants completed a 4-minute daily strength routine made up of push-ups, chair stands, rows, and stair stepping. Each exercise lasted just 30 seconds, followed by 30 seconds of rest.

Despite this tiny time commitment, participants improved how many times they could stand from a chair, how long they could balance on one leg, and how quickly they could complete a sit-to-stand test.

You do not need a 'perfect' program to make progress. You need something you'll actually do consistently.

✅ Action Step: If you are inactive, start with a few minutes of strength work each day and gradually make the movements harder as they get easier.
