Getting Stuck in Regret: Loosening Limiting Mindsets
Regret is part of being human. It can teach us what matters, help us take responsibility, and guide us toward different choices in the future.
But sometimes reflection becomes rumination. We repeatedly revisit what happened, imagining what we “should” have said, known, or done differently, as though thinking about the past enough might eventually allow us to change it.
Learning from the past can help us move forward. Punishing ourselves with it cannot change what happened.
Common ways getting stuck in regret limits us:
• 🔄 Replaying past decisions and imagining different outcomes
• 🧠 Judging your past self using information you only have now
• 😞 Believing one decision permanently ruined your future
• 🚫 Withholding self-forgiveness because you think you should have known better
• ⏪ Spending so much energy wishing you could change the past that it becomes harder to engage with the present
Ways to gently loosen regret:
• 🥠 Ask: What did I know, need, fear, or understand at the time?
• 🌱 Turn regret into information: What can this teach me going forward?
• 💙 Practice offering your past self context alongside accountability
• 🔄 Separate “I wish I had done differently” from “I should keep punishing myself”
• 🧭 Bring your attention toward the choices still available to you now
You can't rewrite yesterday, but you can let what you learned help write what comes next.
✅ Action step: Choose one regret you've been carrying and ask: What is this trying to teach me that I can actually use today?

Fitness Friday: Make The Plank Harder
The plank is a great exercise to slow down time and make you question your life choices, but it also helps improve core stability and strength.
If you can do a plank on your toes for about 30 seconds, then you need to make it more difficult. Here are 3 specific ways you can do it with absolutely zero equipment:
