Today’s Edition

We keep having this nagging feeling that we are forgetting something…

We know what it is… we have forgotten to tell you how much we truly appreciate you! Yes, you! You! You! You! YOU! YOU!!!! WE APPRECIATE YOU!

Taking Back Power: Internal Locus of Control

Do you believe life mostly “happens to you,” or that your choices shape your path? This is the difference between an external and internal locus of control. The truth is, when we lean too heavily into an external locus of control we can feel helpless, and struggle to find a way out of difficult mental and emotional states. Building your internal locus of control doesn’t mean ignoring outside forces, it means focusing on what’s within your power. It means starting to recognize that your influence matters. That shift can transform helplessness into confidence. It can help you build up your well-being one step at a time. Let’s take a closer look.

Why it matters

  • 💪 Builds resilience and reduces feelings of helplessness.

  • 🧠 Helps you focus energy on actions that make a difference.

  • 🌍 Strengthens problem-solving and adaptability.

  • Restores a sense of agency in challenging times.

🌟 Ways to build your internal locus

  • 📝 Ask: “What’s one thing I can do here?”

  • 🚶 Break goals into small actions you control.

  • 🪞 Reframe setbacks as opportunities to learn.

  • 💭 Notice when you’re blaming on outside forces, and gently redirect to where you do have power.

  • 🫶Compassionately acknowledge that while you can’t single handedly change everything, your existence matters.

Action Step: Today, take one situation you’ve felt helpless about and identify one thing you can control. Do that step.

Make Dumbo Jealous of Your Ears

Maintaining your ear health is important as you age, not only for your hearing but also for your balance. There are steps you can take now to help ensure that happens.

The biggest things you can do are to:

🔊 Protect your ears from loud noise exposure. Loud sounds can damage the tiny hair cells in the inner ear responsible for hearing, so using earplugs in noisy environments and turning down volume levels is key.

👂 Keeping your ear canal dry after swimming or bathing helps prevent infections.

🤕 Avoid ear injuries (don’t be like 5-year-old me, ears aren’t a good place for rocks)

Keeping your hearing helps you experience the beautiful noises of life, also, healthy ears mean fewer infections, earaches, and less risk of tinnitus or balance issues. Proper care also safeguards against damage from medications that may affect hearing.

Action Step: Avoid putting anything inside ear canals, wear ear protection in loud settings, keep ears dry, and seek medical help if experiencing pain, hearing changes, or excessive wax buildup. Regular hearing check-ups can also be a good idea.

“I’m Not Enough:” Challenging Worthiness Wounds

Trauma can plant the belief that you’re somehow inadequate. This couldn’t be further from the truth, you worthy beauty. This week offers gentle ways to challenge that.

Day 4: Speak to Yourself With Authority and Kindly
Since “I’m not enough” usually starts outside of us, we need to reclaim our internal power and believe that we have the right to change our own mind. We have the authority to say “I’m enough” and we can be a force of kindness to the past self that was hurt. Offer yourself the reassurance you needed back then.

  • 🥰“I am enough as I am today.”

  • 🤯“My worth isn’t up for debate.”

  • 🥹“Hi past self, I’m sorry you were led to believe you weren’t enough. This couldn’t be further from the truth. I know this has been hard to hold but you can put it down now. You are enough, now and always. I love you and am here for you.”

Darling, don’t give up on yourself, you’re so worth it. Sending love 💕
