Today’s Edition

I think encouragement is important, and self-encouragement is too.
Start now by telling yourself even 1 small encouraging thing.
Like “I’m a freaking awesome and I can”
See, you’ve got it :)

Letting Yourself Need Support

Many people struggle to ask for help, even when they genuinely need it.

Sometimes this comes from fear of being a burden. Sometimes from past experiences where needs were dismissed, ignored, or unsafe to express. Sometimes from growing up feeling like you had to be “the strong one” or handle everything on your own.

Over time, independence can become more than a skill, it can become emotional armour.

But human beings were never meant to carry everything alone all the time.

Needing support does not make you weak, incapable, dramatic, or “too much.” It makes you human.

In fact, allowing yourself support can reduce stress, strengthen connection, and help regulate the nervous system. Feeling emotionally supported is deeply protective for well-being.

And importantly, support doesn’t always have to mean a huge vulnerable conversation. Sometimes it’s asking for company, honesty, reassurance, practical help, rest, or simply letting someone know you’re struggling.

Ways to practice allowing support:

💛 Notice where you automatically tell yourself “I should handle this alone”
🫶 Start with small asks instead of waiting until you’re overwhelmed
🧠 Remember that needing support is not failure
🌱 Let trusted people show up for you too
•⏳ Practice receiving care without immediately minimizing your needs

You are allowed to be supported. Strength is not measured by how much suffering you can endure alone.

Action step: Reach out for one small form of support this week: emotional, practical, or relational.

3 Affordable & Healthy Protein Sources

Hitting your protein target doesn't have to mean expensive cuts of meat or tubs of powder. A lot of my clients assume eating enough protein is pricey (even going outside these days is expensive), but some of the best sources are cheap, simple, and sitting in the fridge aisle.

As a cheap human who loves to exercise and eat well, here are 3 staples I come back to again and again:

1. Egg whites: Lean, cheap, and close to pure protein. A carton of liquid egg whites goes a long way, and you can pour them into scrambles, omelettes, or I’ll pour a bunch in a pan with an over easy egg.

2. Cottage cheese: ½ a cup gives you 12-14g of protein; it's rich in the slow-digesting kind, and it works both savoury and sweet. My favourite is to make a pizza crust with it!

3. Tofu: an affordable plant-based option. It's a complete protein, low cost, and soaks up whatever flavour you cook it with. Press it, season it, and pan-fry, bake, or crumble it into a stir-fry; there are lots of great options.

Action Step: Pick one of these and add it to your shopping list this week. Build a meal around it and notice how easy hitting your protein target becomes when the basics are stocked.
