Today’s Edition

Life has challenges, and some days can be extremely difficult. We want you to know how proud of you we are for continuing to move forward each day. That takes grit and courage. If you can take a moment to feel those two powerful qualities you possess.

Fear of Being Too Much: Loosening Limiting Mindsets

Have you ever held back your excitement, swallowed your emotions, or made yourself smaller because you worried you were simply too much?

The fear of being too much is the belief that our needs, emotions, personalities, or passions might overwhelm others or make us harder to love.

Sometimes this belief develops through experiences where our authentic expression was criticized, dismissed, or unwelcome. Over time, we may learn to edit ourselves to maintain connection, even when it comes at the expense of our own well-being.

But belonging shouldn't require disappearing.

Common ways the fear of being too much limits us:

  • 🤐 Holding back emotions or opinions to avoid making others uncomfortable

  • 🪞 Apologizing for your enthusiasm, sensitivity, or personality

  • 💬 Downplaying your needs to appear easygoing

  • 🎭 Changing how you express yourself to gain acceptance

  • 💔 Believing that being fully yourself will push people away

Ways to gently loosen the fear of being too much:

  • 🌱 Ask: Whose expectations taught me that parts of myself were too much?

  • 💙 Practice expressing yourself authentically in relationships where you feel safe

  • 🔍 Notice when you're shrinking yourself out of habit rather than genuine preference

  • 🌈 Remember that compatibility isn't the same as universal approval

  • 🫶 Allow your emotions, passions, and needs to take up appropriate space

You don't have to make yourself smaller to deserve connection. The goal isn't to be everything to everyone, but to have room to be yourself.

✅ Action step: Notice one moment today when you instinctively hold part of yourself back. Ask: What would it look like to give myself a little more permission to be me?

Fitness Friday: Couples Exercise

I have some couples clients who do training sessions with me together, and new research shows why this is a wonderful idea.

A new study of nearly 1,700 married couples found that couples who exercised together reported better communication, healthier conflict resolution, and less marital stress than those who exercised separately.

If you have a partner and your timing or financial situation doesn’t allow you to do training sessions together, that is ok because this research shows that even walking together with your partner can provide these benefits.

This is because shared exercise creates opportunities to bond, talk, listen, and connect through a common experience without distractions.

It is worth noting that the relationship benefits were not huge, but they were consistent, especially for communication.

✅ Action Step: If you have a partner, take at least one walk with them this week and leave the phones in your pockets.
