Today’s Edition

Take a moment and feel some self-compassion.
To do that, first recognize you’re human, and as a human being, you’re not perfect and accept that.
Then show yourself some kindness and understanding.
You deserve it.

Digital Overload and Attention Fatigue

Our brains are processing more information in a single day than ever before.

Notifications. Messages. Emails. News. Reels. Ads. Podcasts. Tabs. Endless scrolling. Constant updates competing for our attention at all times.

Over time, this nonstop input can leave the nervous system and brain feeling overstimulated and fatigued.

Attention fatigue happens when our mental focus becomes depleted from excessive stimulation and constant switching between information. This can make it harder to concentrate, think clearly, stay present, regulate emotions, or feel mentally rested.

And because digital life is so normalized, many people don’t even realize how overloaded their brains have become until they finally step away and notice the difference.

The goal isn’t necessarily to eliminate technology. It’s to create more balance between input and recovery. Your brain needs quiet too.

Ways to reduce digital overload and support attention:

📵 Build small screen-free moments into your day
🧠 Reduce multitasking and constant app-switching where possible
🌿 Give your attention somewhere softer sometimes: nature, music, stillness, conversation
💛 Notice how different types of content affect your mood and nervous system
•⏳ Allow periods of boredom or quiet instead of constantly filling every moment

Your attention is one of your most valuable resources. Protecting it is a form of self-care too.

Action step: Take one intentional break from screens today, even for 10–15 minutes, and notice how your mind and body feel afterward.

Guess This “Superfood”

This “superfood” is packed with fibre, which helps with blood sugar control, they are also a good source of plant-based protein to help maintain muscle; they also have polyphenols that fight inflammation, and resistant starch that feeds healthy gut bacteria. Plus, they are rich in many important micronutrients, including potassium, magnesium, folate, iron, and zinc.

They're also cheap, shelf-stable, and endlessly versatile.

So what is this superfood? Beans.

Just take a look at what ½ cup of cooked black beans gives you.

7.5g of fibre, 1.7g of resistant starch, 7.6g of protein plus 1.8mg of iron, 0.96mg of zinc, 23mg of calcium, 305mg of potassium, 60mg of magnesium, 128μg of folate.

Beans are punching well above their weight and are a great thing to integrate into your nutrition.

Action Step: See if you can add half a cup of beans to a couple of meals this week; add them to a soup, salad, as a side, mix with veggies, etc.
