🌿 Monday Healing Moment: Coming Home to Yourself
Happy Monday 💛 Before the world asks anything of you, let’s take a moment to return to yourself.
Take a slow breath in. And a long breath out.
Feel your body where you are.
Notice your feet on the ground.
Your body supported beneath you.
Your breath moving in and out.
You don’t have to go anywhere right now.
You’re already here.
Let your attention gently come inward.
Not to fix anything. Not to change anything. Just to be with yourself.
There is a steadiness available in this moment.
A quiet place within you that exists underneath the noise, the expectations, the doing.
Let yourself rest there, even briefly. At home, within yourself.
As this week begins, you don’t have to abandon yourself to keep up with everything else.
You can return to yourself, again and again.
Take one more slow breath. Settling into all that you are.
You are always allowed to come home to you.
Love, Lola Graham

Why Are Colon Cancer Rates Rising?
Colon cancer is now the leading cause of cancer deaths for people under 50, and colorectal cancer rates are rising in adults under 50, up about 3% per year from 2013 to 2022, and it is being driven by modern lifestyle factors.
I have Lynch syndrome, which is a genetic condition that puts me at about a 10x higher risk of developing colorectal cancer, and so I’m really passionate about helping people avoid it.
Research points to a few key drivers of colorectal cancer:
• Eating a diet high in ultra-processed foods and low in fibre
• Having a sedentary lifestyle (lots of sitting, not enough movement)
• Obesity and metabolic dysfunction
• Alcohol, smoking and processed meat intake are all linked to increased risk
All of these can increase inflammation, disrupt gut health, and affect how cells grow and repair, which matters for cancer risk over time.
The important part is that you can take steps to improve your gut health and lower your risk. This week, I will be sharing some more tips, so make sure you check out the rest of this week’s newsletters.
Also, if you’re due, book a colonoscopy. Early screening and detection are vitally important.
✅ Action Step: Focus on adding more fibre, more movement, more whole foods.
